Selecting The Correct Bike Is Not Easy

In the last couple of decades a major shift has been happening in transportation. Before the car was transport of choice but recently however the use of push bikes has become increasingly popular. Perhaps the trend can be put down to 'green' thinking, or maybe just the prices of gas are starting to get to people. Whatever the reason, there are more cyclists on the road than ever. Maybe you have considered buying a bike? If you have then there are several things you should look at when you do.

We’d be misleading you if we didn’t admit that fashion does impact your decision. We all like one color or style more than another. These preferences must be listened to when getting your next bike. Obviously, the style and fashion elements of the bicycle should not be your top priority (unless the bicycle is just for show). You really need to look at safety and comfort issues before any others. But once you have found the safest and most comfortable bicycles, there is no reason you shouldn’t narrow down your choice further by how the bike appeals to you visually. You shouldn't ever sit the seat at the lowest setting, which means sitting on the crossbar. You want to adjust it up a few inches and take those inches into account when you are choosing your bike. You want to have the comfort of the seat being higher up than the crossbar on the bike, because if the seat is sitting on the crossbar, you will not be comfortable. The ideal seat height can be achieved, by ensuring that your leg is very close to completely extended, when your foot is at it's lowest position while on the pedal.

Where you set the angle of your seat is also something to consider. There are a variety of options for tilting the bicycle seat. Some cyclists are more comfortable in a slightly forward position, and therefore, find a completely flat seat inappropriate for them. The seat allows you to make this adjustment to conform to your desired riding position. You may not want to adjust the seat at all in the beginning, then after a ride realize that the way it was positioned is not the way you want it at all. from this source

The idea behind buying cycling bicycles is to make sure that you and the bicycle fit well together—physically. If you intend to use your bike a lot, perhaps as your main method of transport, it is important you keep this in mind. Comfort and safety are both very important.
